What you will be doingThe Manager, Clinical Contracts is responsible for managing all departmental contracts, invoice and budget tracking as well as developing standards and templates for contract negotiation, review, and submission as well as document management and related reporting.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee departmental contract management, invoicing, and budget tracking
  • Independently prepare and manage contracts/agreements for sites, clients, vendors, and other third parties (including clinical trial agreements, statements of work, master service agreements, amendments, licensing agreements, etc.)
  • Independently review contract/agreement redlines and negotiate terms of contracts/agreements within company and/or client standards
  • Independently work with internal and external legal teams in support of contract/agreement execution
  • Ability to manage a large number of contracts across multiple studies, clients, sites, vendors, and third parties efficiently in support of aggressive timelines
  • Develop and maintain contractual templates that are current, reflect industry standards and meet regulatory and legal requirements
  • Establish and improve processes and procedures for the creation, review, approval and tracking of all departmental contracts, invoices, and milestone payments
  • Act as the liaison between clients, sites, vendors, and other third parties, to execute study-related contracts
  • Act as the liaison between clients, sites, vendors, other third parties and internal and external finance teams to process invoices, resolve payment discrepancies, investigate payment statuses, track remitted payments, and provide monthly budget summaries
  • Independently oversee and track project budgets to ensure projects are in scope, identify at-risk budgets and escalate for risk mitigation, as needed, create contract amendments to prevent negative budgets, as needed
  • Develop patient/site level budget templates based on fair market value estimates
  • Oversee site and patient payment administration process to ensure alignment with contractual obligations
  • Work cross-functionally with study team and project management team
  • Develop applicable Standard Operating Procedures and associated metrics
  • Provide support of new business and study proposal development
  • Support client requirements for Sunshine Reporting as required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What your background should look like (minimum qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a contracts associate, manager, or paralegal within the pharmaceutical or CRO industry
  • Strong working knowledge of GCPs and Federal Regulations as related to contract parameters
  • Ability to use sound judgment in decision making that may impact contract negotiations
  • High level of organization and self-motivated to manage multiple contracts across various studies
  • Capacity to problem solve and think creatively in the contract process
  • Ability to lead collaborative projects in close coordination with various stakeholders
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while exercising initiative, flexibility and good judgment with a desire to identify needs, improve and streamline processes
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
